Momentum is quite the mercurial phenomena, isn’t it? Once a group attains high levels of success, they just as nearly lose it all if they take a break just to catch their breath and try to get back into the game. For Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers, this age-old dilemma is near the forefront of their mental operations. Becoming irrelevant is not something that the pair has on their agenda if they can help it in the least, as they have seen many bands go on tour for the money only to burn themselves out creatively in the years to come, and ultimately end up forgotten about or replaced by another equally hungry (or hungrier) group of artists; Such is the nature of highly competitive music markets.
Taking in these sage wisdoms and failings of their musical ancestors, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall of the band called “The Chainsmokers” have made damn sure that they will absolutely never be labeled as a weak one-hit-wonder band. Even though the duo’s most recent blazing hot sinle, “Closer”, is dancing near the top of the Billboards, they already have produced not one or two but three solid hits. Worth noting is that “Don’t Let Me Down”’s YouTube video has 1.1 Billion views, currently.
This duo firstly started off the relationship normally, not unlike how many artists do today. Alex Pall used to DJ (in New York) in order to get more money and have fun outside of his job. He was actually paired up with someone else in The Chainsmokers, but this did fade away until Andrew came along. So then comes this guy Andrew, who is also an EDM DJ but he’s actually from rural Maine. He has an equally fierce drive, he also has the looks to make all the girls go crazy, and he has strong taste for electronic artists that don’t disappoint Alex.
The two got along so well that instead of casually meeting once a week at gigs, they eventually committed 12 hour days together to build electronic music. It eventually got so serious that Alex had to give up his job and dive straight into the band / music full time. The rest of the story, as we know, is currently history in the making.
In the world of music, being diverse works well for artists and they, therefore, do not have to concentrate on one genre of music. By trying out various fields of music, it becomes easy to gain different experiences as the artists address a variety of audiences. Additionally, an artist can opt to feature other artists in their music based on their contribution and the impact they are likely to bring. In the case of Alex Pall of the Chainsmokers band, he featured a renowned artist Halsey, and in that case, this artist’s popularity is likely to help the music sell undoubtedly. Being flexible in regards to content, rhythm and the kind of people to involve in any music is important as it helps an artist realize their strengths and weaknesses and therefore invest in the right purpose. Surprisingly for Alex Pall, he started off as a DJ before getting into music entirely after realizing that was what he was meant to pursue after all. In that case, it is evident that one can begin on one note and end up in another depending on the passion and commitment that comes at play. Andrew Staggart on his part knew what he wanted to pursue considering that he was in love with music from way back though he also had some interest in being a DJ.
By the time Alex Pall and Andrew Staggart were meeting, they already had similar ambitions which made it easy for them to bond and work together without much struggle. In that case, identifying the kind of company one would connect with easily in any activity helps in saving time in that, whatever needs to be done gets done efficiently. The kind of confidence in the interests they both had in themselves, and each other is what made them get started as soon as they met. Constant meetings with relevant people who mattered in their music also helped them achieve a lot within a short time. Therefore, when it comes to working towards a certain objective, only the people that matter should be involved as everyone else may bring a go slow as they do not understand what the activity entails.
Hussain Sajwani worked after school as a boy for his father in the family store in Dubai. The store sold Chinese imports, consumer goods, and office supplies. Hussain mentioned to his father that he certainly would not be interested in being self-employed because the hours were too long. He would much rather get a degree and become a professional so his hours would be more regular.
As things worked out Hussain Sajwani did go to college in the US at the University of Washington where he earned a degree in engineering and economics. He then returned to Dubai where he was employed by a Dubai gas company.
Even though his sentiments as a boy where he told his father he wouldn’t enjoy being self-employed, Hussain did have quite a sense of working for oneself as he certainly learned a lot about business in general by working with his Dad. The job with the gas company did not last very long when Hussain formed a catering company that furnished food to the US Army in the Gulf Wars during the early nineties. This venture was a tremendous success and established a foundation for Sajwani’s future endeavors.
In 2002, Sajwani established DAMAC Properties, a real estate management and development firm. He had correctly surmised that when the UAE lifted the restrictions on foreigners immigrating to the country, there would be a boom in real estate and land sales. He did not want to miss the opportunity. DAMAC Properties was to become the foundation of all things good and prosperous for the Hussain Sajwani family.
Sajwani started things off with a really fast start, as his very first project was totally sold out before the construction of the project had even begun. He was a brilliant promoter and marketing guru and became well-known for his innovative advertising strategies and tactics. One of his favorite slogans was, A New Bently With Each Apartment.”
This approach and others worked so well that soon, the DAMAC owner had made the brand well-known all throughout the country. DAMAC has sold to date, 19,000 apartments with another 44,000 in varying stages of completion.
