Dr. Saad Saad is an internationally recognized expert when it comes to complex pediatric surgeries. He works in New Jersey and has traveled to Jerusalem eight times on medical missions. During these times in Jerusalem he has helped poor children by performing these types of surgeries free of charge.
It was in 1971 that Dr. Saad Saad graduated from Cairo University. He went to the United Kingdom to complete his internship and then he moved to the United States to do his residency. He was working in New Jersey when he was approached by the Saudi Royal family to become their pedicatric surgeon. He accepted the job after spending a month in Saudi Arabia. He was in Saudi Arabia from 1985 until 1990. He says that during this time he performed complex surgeries and also lectured at the surgical club there. When he wasn’t working he said he took his family on vacations to places such as Denmark, Ghana, Hawaii, and Egypt.
He has patented two inventions he came up with. The first is a catheter which doesn’t need an X-ray performed in order to be found in a patient’s body, eliminating the risks of radiation exposure. His other invention is an improved verson of the suction/irrigation rigid endoscope. Surgeons like Dr. Saad Saad use these to look inside patients. He says the problem with them has been that they fog up because of the warmth inside a person. His endoscope device has an anti-fog port which eliminates this problem.
Dr. Saad Saad recently retired and he now lives in Red Bank, New Jersey. He has commented that he had a lot of success despite starting out life as a Palestinian refugee of little means. He thinks if he can succeed through hard work than really anyone can. He has four children and he says that have also been very successful professionally. Two of his children are also now surgeons, another one is a lawyer, and his fourth child is an intensive care unit nurse.
He was board certified in the United States in 1983 by the American Board of Medical Specialties. He can perform many types of surgeries including cardiac, colon, gynecological, oral, orthopedic, plastic, urological, vascular, and more. He has operated on children from those still in the womb to teenagers. Some of his most complex surgeries has been separating conjoined twins.
Working mainly in New Jersey, Dr. Saad Saad has performed surgeries in 12 hospitals in that state. Among these are the Medical Center of Ocean County, Riverview Medical Center, Centrastate Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center, and Clara Maass Medical Center.
